Our Founders

Jenny Arndt

Co-founder | Director of Community Outreach | Gear Gremlin

Hey! I’m Jenny, part of the team behind She Shreds Outdoors! I have been lucky enough to have been on skis for almost 20 years now, and grew up ski racing in my local community and at UMD when I moved up to Duluth for college a little over 8 years ago!

I now work at Ski Hut in our Alpine Department and as a general jack-of-all-trades, which is where i was eventually introduced to the joys of biking! It’s through the shop that I have been able to truly connect with the outdoor community here in town, and find my own space within it. I feel lucky to be in a position that allows me to try and break down various barriers to entry to the sports and activities i love, and connect with others that love them just as much.

Which is why I’m so excited to be a part of She Shreds Outdoors! I want to show young girls early on that they belong in these male-dominated spaces, and show other women that it’s okay if you start one of these activities later in life - the outdoors is for all, and we’re all in this together!

Emma Bursinger

Co-founder | Director of Operations | Social Butterfly

Hey, I’m Emma! I love to ski, but actually didn’t start until I was 17; when I did, though, I fell in love with it, in huge part thanks to the supportive women in my life, and now find a lot of my joy on skis both at work and in my free time.

I grew up biking city trails and roads in Minneapolis, but I was introduced to mountain biking when I started college. In the summer of 2024, I finally got out on mountain bike trails for the first time and have been hooked ever since.

I now work for an organization called Northland Adaptive Recreation, where we put on a variety of recreational opportunities for those with disabilities so I am passionate about making the outdoors accessible for all. I’m thrilled to be a part of SheShredsOutdoors cause I have experienced first hand the importance of having a female community in outdoor spaces. My progression in skiing and start in Mountain biking has all been supported by my friends and wouldn’t be where I am without them.

Reece Hickman

Co-founder | Head of Public Relations | Marketing | Glitter Diva

Hi! I’m Reece, another one of the co founders of She Shred Outdoors. Skiing in a whole lot of different forms has played a huge role in my life. From growing up alpine skiing at Wild Mountain to spending all of middle school, high school, and into college being a competitive xc skier, winter and skiing has shaped me into the person I am today.

Last year I decided to try and ski 100 days which is something I had only seen people out west do, and I knew I needed a whole lot of community to make it happen. I joined NAR as volunteer to help share the stoke of skiing and ended up meeting such a wonderful community of people, got into backcountry skiing, and even took my Avy 1 out in CO last winter.

Since moving to Duluth for college & then moving back a bit post grad, I have re-fallen in love with Mtn biking, running, acquired a gravel bike, have gotten into climbing (I’m so bad), surfing (also bad), and fell in love with photography and story telling. And enjoy setting big, weird goals for myself.

Final fun fact: I am a second degree black belt in karate and will figure out a reason to wear glitter to most functions. Last of all, I am so stoked that we are making this happen and I cannot wait to shred with you all.

Emily Wallace

Co-founder | Head of Customer Experience | Vibe Curator

Hey friends! I’m Emily Wallace and I’m a co-founder of She Shreds Outdoors! I love doing just about anything outdoors from skiing in the winter, to gravel biking in the summer, to hiking with my dog.

Growing up skiing was something that wasn’t super accessible to me, and I honestly didn’t know much about it. However, while I was in college, I lived with 3 amazing girlies who were all on the UMD alpine ski team and they finally got me on skis when I was 21, and I’ve loved skiing ever since!

It definitely felt super intimidating coming into a sport in my 20s when it felt like most others had been skiing their whole lives. But with the love and support of my friends that intimidation started to diminish each time I got out on my skis. Having that support and sense of community is what made me fall in love with skiing, and that’s what I would love to share with other women who also feel that intimidation. Because we all deserve to have fun on the slopes and to have a rad community of women supporting us while we’re at it!

Antonia Kaliher

Co-founder | Creative Director | Merch Monster

I’m Antonia, one of the co-founders of She Shreds Outdoors! While in college at UMD, I decided I wanted to learn how to ski & pretty much taught myself through trial, error, & youtube lol. 7 years later, I enjoy a yearly mountain trip & volunteer with Northland Adaptive Recreation for their ski lessons!

I’m a Duluth-based graphic designer and illustrator who loves coffee, my CD player, my bike (Bonnie Blue), and fun glasses. I had the privilege of designing SSO’s branding and have had so much fun using my design skills while helping grow and share this initiative!

I met some of my fellow co-founders through activities like skiing and biking, and I hope this group helps other girls get out of their comfort zones and meet people through outdoor activities! I’m so excited to shred with all of you!

Jenna Holmgren

Co-founder | Project Manager | Chaos Wrangler

Hi!! My name is Jenna, and I am one of the cofounders of She Shreds Outdoors! I have been skiing since elementary school and grew to love it on my family trips to Lutsen every Christmas! Now I volunteer with Northland Adaptive Recreation for ski lessons during the winter and love getting outdoors with friends!

I am a soon-to-be physical therapist this coming summer! I got into She Shreds Outdoors by unintentionally attending the planning meeting and falling in love with the idea of creating community on the ski hill and outdoor realms! Finally, a fun fact about me is that I got a hole-in-one golfing when I was 11!
